Holiday Fun

It has been a busy month for the Lemmings Family. We spent the early part of the month in Colorado celebrating an early Christmas. The weather in Colorado was cold and snowy. I think they got about 12" of snow while we were there. It was great being able to have a white Christmas though since the chances of having a white Christmas (or even a wet Christmas) in Atlanta is nearly impossible. Morgan's first experience with snow this season started out when she got some snow in her eyes. That pretty much did it for her for the rest of the trip - she really didn't want to venture out in the yard to build a snowman or just to play in it after that. But that didn't stop the fun, she had a great time wtih Ma-Ma, Papa, and Mimi having breakfast with Santa, building a gingerbread house, and going to Chuck E Cheeses. We even braved the VERY cold weather (in the teens) to go to Zoo Lights. Because of the recent snow and cold weather, it wasn't crowded at all. It was beautiful seeing the zoo decorated with all sorts of lights and enjoying some much needed hot chocolate.

My mom is hanging in there with the chemo and radiation and is scheduled to be finished with treatment in early January (yeah!). It is starting to get tough, but she is handling it great. We are so proud of her. Thank you to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers.

Other activities that have kept us busy included visiting our church's live nativity, going to Brian's Work Holiday Party, driving around nearby neighborhoods looking at Christmas lights (which we do a few times a week as Morgan loves it), baking Christmas cookies, and going to Jackson and Lily's Birthday parties. Happy Birthday Jackson (3) and Lily (1)! Morgan and I also went to the aquarium with an old friend of mine. It was great seeing Lisa, despite having a cranky 2 year old with us :)

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We spent the holiday weekend with friends and family in Auburn and Birmingham. We were able to spend quality time with friends and family we haven't seen in a while (and those we have) - so we had a great time.

The picture on the left is of Nana and all her great grandchildren - the number keeps growing!

The picture on the right is of Gray, Peyton and Morgan. It has been a while since all three kids have been together so it was great letting them play. I am constantly reminded of how fast kids grow!

Life Changes

So I turned 30 and we purchased a mini van all within the same week. In less than four months, we will have two kids - wow, how life changes!

An Update from the Lemmings Family

So far, October and November have been quite busy for the Lemmings Family. As many of you know, my mom was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago. It really was a blow and something very unexpected (but I guess you never expect to get cancer). We have been blessed with many prayers from our family and friends which has helped us get through this. My mom is doing great so far with her treatment and the doctors have given her a great prognosis. We know it will be a difficult couple of months for my Mom, but we are comforted to know that my Mom will be here in the long long future and will be given a fresh start come January!

Because of this, Morgan and I headed to Colorado a few weeks ago for a nice family visit. It was before my Mom began cancer treatment so she had plenty of time and energy to spoil, chase, and love on Morgan. Morgan went to the park a countless number of times with Ma-Ma, Mimi, and Papa. Morgan even went to her favorite restaurant - Chuck E Cheeses. We also spent Halloween in Colorado (see earlier post) and enjoyed the cool Fall weather. One of her favorite songs that week was Old McDonald had a farm......(the video was in the car - you can't see Morgan but you can definitely hear her!)




A week ago, we headed to Auburn for Homecoming weekend and to visit with Brian's Mom and family. Kim gave us great tickets and Brian and I enjoyed watching Auburn play. You would think that going to a game in November would be comfortable, but it was quite warm sitting in the sun watching the game!

This past weekend we took Morgan to her first concert - the Wiggles! We all had a blast. Yes, we all had a blast. I definitely enjoyed watching Morgan as she sat through the concert. Brian and Morgan watch the Wiggles as they get ready for school in the mornings so it was so special to see the Wiggles come to life in front of her eyes. We did come a bit unprepared though - as true Wiggles concert goers know, you need to bring a rose for Dorothy and a dog bone for Wags during the concert. It also doesn't hurt to have your kid dress up as Captain Feather Sword. I hope we are in town and able to go to the next Wiggles concert - Morgan had such a great time we really would like to live that experience again.

We are looking forward to Thanksgiving next week and the Christmas season. Morgan is at a great age and ready to understand how special this time of year really is.

SPF with your turkey?

My Aunt sent this to me today. I thought it was hilarious. To make, cut foil in the appropriate 'shape', carefully place, and roast your turkey as usual. Not sure if actually works, but worth a shot!

Happy Halloween!

Today was Morgan's third Halloween and the most fun yet. Originally we had planned for Morgan to be a pumpkin, but because we decided to come to Colorado, Ma-Ma and Aunt Mimi thought it would be perfect if Morgan dressed up as a doctor. Morgan loves to sing the song "No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed". So they found scrubs (yes they make them for tots), a doctor bag, and a stuffed monkey to complete the outfit.

Our friends John and Amy invited us to a Fall Carnival at their church. Morgan played games and rode a pony for the first time! John even helped Morgan and Sarah 'fish'. The weather was chilly so I was happy to warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. Afterwards we came home so Morgan could trick or treat for the first time. After each house, she would say "I want to do it again". We only went to about ten houses, but she scored a major stash of candy. I guess because she asked so nicely and looked so cute, they couldn't resist giving her a handful of candy! Because the cool weather we came home to hand out the candy. After the first group of kids left, Morgan was a little upset and confused that the kids took 'her' candy. However, it didn't take her anytime to recognize the fun of the holiday and she would sit by the door waiting for it to ring so she could hand out the candy.

After a quick phone call to daddy (to tell him that she saved him the Dots), we took a quick bath and went to bed. I am sure she can't wait for next year - I know I can't!
