Two Cupcakes Two Personalities

Peppy and Kim visited us and the Norris clan last weekend to help Christy and Brandon finish some projects around the house before the babies come. She couldn't resist and brought Morgan and Jackson lion cupcakes. It is so neat that Morgan and Jackson are close in age and are able to grow up together. Because of this, we are able to see how different they really are and how their individual personalities shine through. Morgan doesn't mind getting dirty - she happily tore into the frosting, licked it off, and left the cupcake behind (with frosting on her face, hands, and hair!). Jackson on the other hand, finished the whole cupcake with barely anything on him. Morgan sure doesn't mind a good mess!

Peyton's Christening

On Father's Day, Brian went to Birmingham for Peyton's Christening. Unfortunately, I couldn't go, but we are thankful Brian was able to attend. Collin and Katie asked Brian to be Peyton's God Father - a responsibility that Brian is both honored and proud of.

Grayson has grown up so quickly! Every time we see him he is doing something new or has changed so much. Peyton is nearly three months old already and is definitely a beautiful baby girl.

Just Another Day at Work - Public Health at its Finest

At work last Tuesday we had a suspicious white powder in a delivery of office supplies. We were unable to identify the substance after speaking with the company and therefore had to contact the local police department. Shortly thereafter, we were required to leave our office while the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI investigated. Even though this was an inconvenience, it really was neat to witness a public health response firsthand. Thankfully, the substance was not anthrax (although I still don't know what it was) and business returned to normal on Thursday. Our office was closed on Wednesday until the rapid testing was complete.

Prayer Requests

My friend Jackie's mom has recently been diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer that is now in the liver. It appears to be a very aggressive and fast moving cancer. Currently, she is in the hospital with a collapsed lung awaiting a procedure so she can being chemo. Brian and I pray for her strength and her recovery from this awful disease.

Also, Brian's sister is in the hospital. She is 24 weeks pregnant with twins. We pray that she continues to recover and that she can carry the babies to at least 36 weeks. Updates can be found at norrisupdates.blogspot.com.

Girl Weekend

This past weekend I was able to spend with two of my closest friends - Alicia and Kara. One lives in Wyoming and the other is moving there next week. Needless to say, we don't get to hang togther out very often! Alicia was sweet enough to fly down to Nashville to help Kara pack . When I drove up to Nashville on Friday we decided to have a girls fun weekend (no packing) - yeah! Besides seeing a bad movie and not having any sun on Saturday, the weekend was perfect.

Instead of hanging by the pool (no sun) on Saturday we decided to go shopping. It probably is a good thing that Kara and I don't shop together very often, but it is a rare occasion that I don't have a toddler with me and therefore I had lots of time at the mall in my favorite stores! Kara knows a few locations that Nicole Kidman hangs out (she has even seen 'Nicole and Keith' on a few occasions) but as they were out of town we didn't get to see them. On Saturday afternoon, we went to the Opryland Hotel. Wow - what a neat beautiful place. We also went to downtown Nashville Saturday night to see the 'Honky Tonks' (live music bars) and to go to the Wile Horse Saloon and have a line dancing lesson. I did to the touristy thing and wear a cowboy hat (I can't believe I agreed to it as I was even sober).

We wish Kara the best of luck in her decision to move to Cheyenne to be near her family. Her newphew Colin (brother Jared and his wife Sandra) should arrive any day now! She plans to live with them for a few months this summer to help them with the transition. They will be lucky to have her!
