Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day. I hope you had a great Holiday. Thank you to everyone who has or is serving in the Military - especially to those who died serving our country to protect our rights and freedoms.

My sister joined us the last few days. The kids didn't have school on Friday so Brea pitched in (thanks!) and babysat. She even agreed to watch them the next day so we could watch Brian's brother graduate from High School (GO ALEX!) without chasing kids around.

If you know who Alex is, he is in the center of the picture (in green if that helps!)

The weather didn't cooperate much this weekend - we dodged many rain showers but still managed to particpate in some outside activities. Brea gave Morgan her first tennis racket (Dora of course!) and pink tennis balls. While Morgan isn't quite the next Monica Seles, she did have a great time.

Matthew even joined in the fun - he loves playing with balls (see below).

We also went to IKEA this weekend. We have four computers (2 for work and 2 for personal use) and had one small desk. We have needed a new desk set up for a long time - thankfully IKEA had what we need. Below is a picture of the mess we made rearranging our office -- you can see all of the cables attached to the PC (ignore the dirty floor!). If you are trying to decide between a PC and MAC --go MAC, I promise you will never go back. MACs are awesome and much simpler to set up. I love my iMac and Macbook (and iPhone!).

I will try to remember to post pictures of our new setup once it is complete!

Below is a picture of Matthew on his new circle timeout mat. I am not sure what the true purpose of these mats are, but we saw them at IKEA and thought they would work great. Matthew has yet to have an official timeout, but I am certain he will have plenty in his future. Morgan has already used hers a few times since we purchased it.

On Memorial Day, we headed to play mini golf. The weather was overcast, and we hoped to miss the rain - that didn't happen. We were able to play through two rounds of quick showers but the third proved to be too much and sent us running for cover. We quickly finished up and headed home - noticeably more wet than when we arrived.

The weather did damper our cook out plans but we still wre able to enjoy some corn on the cob - Matthew even loves to eat it!

I mentioned Matthew has a mild obsession with balls - which is actually an understatement. He is excited beyond belief when he sees one. Below is a video of him eating dinner after Brian walked in the room with a ball in his hands. Anything that is round is fare game - even the cherry tomatoes I was trying to eat for lunch (Matthew loved them because they were balls) or the tomatoes I was trying to put away from the grocery store that he always grabs when the fridge door is open (once again - balls).

Matthew is now 14 months, walking everywhere (no more crawling!), and loves to talk. He knows and uses many words regularly. My new favorite is when he comes up to give me a hug and says Mama, Mama (he used to just say it, but now that he associates it with me - it is priceless!). He also learned to say bite (which means GIVE ME FOOD!). Matthew LOVES to eat -- I am not sure he is ever full. He also enjoys listening to music, playing with his cars and looking at books (especially in the car).

Morgan just finished up preschool and is now in the summer session before Pre-K starts. She loves learning new things - such as tennis - and just learned how to Hula Hoop (she is pretty good at it for only being three - she can even outlast me at times!). In just one short year she will be entering Kindergarten -- where did my baby go!!?!?

Welcome Home...

Welcome home....as they say down in DR.....

We (as in Brian's sister Christy and her husband Brandon) just got back from Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. We spend five awesome nights enjoying the tropical life. Our days were filled with lounging in bed, room service, lazy days by the pool, late dinners, and activities. Brian and I even sported sun burns (I am convinced even if I would have worn a bed sheet I would have gotten burned...bathing in SPF 30 didn't do much for me!). We are extremely thankful to my parents, Margaret and Ross, and Peppy and Megan who watched the five kids during the week so we could enjoy an adults only trip away. I hope they mark their calendars for the next trip in 2011 :)
