Summer's Here

Although the calendar doesn't officially say 'summer', the heat and humidity have begun. We have had a few family adventures this month that we have blogged about previously - but more pictures can be found here:

I am not looking forward to the heat of summer that will soon be here, but I am looking forward to the adventures still to come!

Morgan

Morgan has passed the 2 1/2 year mark and will be 3 is just a few months. She has steadily morphed out of the toddler phase into becoming a little girl. Her language skills continue to amaze us and she has quite the imagination. She loves to read books, sing songs (she even makes them up) and color. Morgan is even learning to spell and write her name - so far she has learned M, O, and A (I think r and g will be a little tough though). We have one more year of preschool and a year from August she will be entering pre-k.

Updated pics are below:

Matthew

Matthew is now 10 weeks old. I can't believe how fast time has gone. I start back to work in a couple of weeks so I am really trying to enjoy what little time I have at home. We are fortunate that he has been sleeping through the night consistently for over a month now. I feel like he eats non stop during the day though to make up for it! Now if we could only get Morgan not to wake up in the middle of the night, we would be in great shape :)

Matthew weighs about 14lbs 5oz and is in the 80+ percentile for height and weight - he was born a big boy and continues to keep on growing! Matthew is starting to snap out of the sleeping all day phase and is staying awake for longer periods during the day. He is even beginning to grab at toys and holds his head up very well. Family Updates

Dairy Farm
We have a dairy not far from our house. We took an impromptu trip to learn how milk is processed. They didn't make the ice cream at this plant, but they had some available for purchase...and we couldn't resist:

Everyone had to wear hairnets....

Savannah
We spent Mother's Day Weekend in Savannah with Ma-ma, Papa, and Mimi. We put the mini van to the test and filled it with 5 adults, 2 children with car seats, a dog, luggage, and a double stroller. Thanks to a rooftop luggage bin, we had plenty of room for the drive. It really is amazing how much stuff and people you can cram into a minivan these days! During the weekend, we ate lots of great food (not very much of it was considered 'good' for you), rode a carriage ride through Savannah, went to the beach, and enjoyed a Mother's Day brunch. A few highlights are below:

Spring Fun

Christy and I took the kids to the zoo last week. The weather was gorgeous and we didn't experience any major meltdowns with the kids. I think the only disappointing part was that we weren't able to see the lions and the crocodiles (Morgan loves the five little monkeys and the crocodile book) but we did get a very close view of the giant pandas!

Matthew is almost two months old - I can't believe it. Below is a video of him enjoying the sights around him:

The best $12.99 we spent...

So earlier this year our hard drive on our computer crashed and we lost everything that was on our computer. Thankfully, all of our digital pictures (12,000+) were stored on our external hard drive and that worked just fine...until yesterday that is. Our external hard drive died - Brian says it was the 'clicks of death'. Thankfully, when our computer died a few months ago, I realized I would be devastated if I lost all of our digital pictures of Morgan and Matthew growing up. After some advice from my IT guy at work (thanks a MILLION Kevin) we went with backupright.com. It costs us $12.99 a month, but it is WORTH every penny. After Matthew was born it took about 8-9 days of uploading our files 24 hours a day to backupright--well worth the effort. I am still hoping we can salvage our hard drive, but because of backupright.com, we will be able to restore all 12,000 of our digital pics and other files we backed up.

Take our advice - back up your files!!! If you have a better way to do it than we do, please let us know. Hopefully you won't have the horrible computer luck that we do...
