Holiday Fun
It has been a busy month for the Lemmings Family. We spent the early part of the month in Colorado celebrating an early Christmas. The weather in Colorado was cold and snowy. I think they got about 12" of snow while we were there. It was great being able to have a white Christmas though since the chances of having a white Christmas (or even a wet Christmas) in Atlanta is nearly impossible. Morgan's first experience with snow this season started out when she got some snow in her eyes. That pretty much did it for her for the rest of the trip - she really didn't want to venture out in the yard to build a snowman or just to play in it after that. But that didn't stop the fun, she had a great time wtih Ma-Ma, Papa, and Mimi having breakfast with Santa, building a gingerbread house, and going to Chuck E Cheeses. We even braved the VERY cold weather (in the teens) to go to Zoo Lights. Because of the recent snow and cold weather, it wasn't crowded at all. It was beautiful seeing the zoo decorated with all sorts of lights and enjoying some much needed hot chocolate.
My mom is hanging in there with the chemo and radiation and is scheduled to be finished with treatment in early January (yeah!). It is starting to get tough, but she is handling it great. We are so proud of her. Thank you to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers.
Other activities that have kept us busy included visiting our church's live nativity, going to Brian's Work Holiday Party, driving around nearby neighborhoods looking at Christmas lights (which we do a few times a week as Morgan loves it), baking Christmas cookies, and going to Jackson and Lily's Birthday parties. Happy Birthday Jackson (3) and Lily (1)! Morgan and I also went to the aquarium with an old friend of mine. It was great seeing Lisa, despite having a cranky 2 year old with us :)

We are looking forward to spending a quiet Christmas at home. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We spent the holiday weekend with friends and family in Auburn and Birmingham. We were able to spend quality time with friends and family we haven't seen in a while (and those we have) - so we had a great time.
The picture on the left is of Nana and all her great grandchildren - the number keeps growing!

The picture on the right is of Gray, Peyton and Morgan. It has been a while since all three kids have been together so it was great letting them play. I am constantly reminded of how fast kids grow!

An Update from the Lemmings Family
So far, October and November have been quite busy for the Lemmings Family. As many of you know, my mom was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago. It really was a blow and something very unexpected (but I guess you never expect to get cancer). We have been blessed with many prayers from our family and friends which has helped us get through this. My mom is doing great so far with her treatment and the doctors have given her a great prognosis. We know it will be a difficult couple of months for my Mom, but we are comforted to know that my Mom will be here in the long long future and will be given a fresh start come January!
Because of this, Morgan and I headed to Colorado a few weeks ago for a nice family visit. It was before my Mom began cancer treatment so she had plenty of time and energy to spoil, chase, and love on Morgan. Morgan went to the park a countless number of times with Ma-Ma, Mimi, and Papa. Morgan even went to her favorite restaurant - Chuck E Cheeses. We also spent Halloween in Colorado (see earlier post) and enjoyed the cool Fall weather. One of her favorite songs that week was Old McDonald had a farm......(the video was in the car - you can't see Morgan but you can definitely hear her!)
A week ago, we headed to Auburn for Homecoming weekend and to visit with Brian's Mom and family. Kim gave us great tickets and Brian and I enjoyed watching Auburn play. You would think that going to a game in November would be comfortable, but it was quite warm sitting in the sun watching the game!
This past weekend we took Morgan to her first concert - the Wiggles! We all had a blast. Yes, we all had a blast. I definitely enjoyed watching Morgan as she sat through the concert. Brian and Morgan watch the Wiggles as they get ready for school in the mornings so it was so special to see the Wiggles come to life in front of her eyes. We did come a bit unprepared though - as true Wiggles concert goers know, you need to bring a rose for Dorothy and a dog bone for Wags during the concert. It also doesn't hurt to have your kid dress up as Captain Feather Sword. I hope we are in town and able to go to the next Wiggles concert - Morgan had such a great time we really would like to live that experience again.
We are looking forward to Thanksgiving next week and the Christmas season. Morgan is at a great age and ready to understand how special this time of year really is.

SPF with your turkey?
My Aunt sent this to me today. I thought it was hilarious. To make, cut foil in the appropriate 'shape', carefully place, and roast your turkey as usual. Not sure if actually works, but worth a shot!
Happy Roasting and Happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Halloween!
Today was Morgan's third Halloween and the most fun yet. Originally we had planned for Morgan to be a pumpkin, but because we decided to come to Colorado, Ma-Ma and Aunt Mimi thought it would be perfect if Morgan dressed up as a doctor. Morgan loves to sing the song "No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed". So they found scrubs (yes they make them for tots), a doctor bag, and a stuffed monkey to complete the outfit.
Our friends John and Amy invited us to a Fall Carnival at their church. Morgan played games and rode a pony for the first time! John even helped Morgan and Sarah 'fish'. The weather was chilly so I was happy to warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. Afterwards we came home so Morgan could trick or treat for the first time. After each house, she would say "I want to do it again". We only went to about ten houses, but she scored a major stash of candy. I guess because she asked so nicely and looked so cute, they couldn't resist giving her a handful of candy! Because the cool weather we came home to hand out the candy. After the first group of kids left, Morgan was a little upset and confused that the kids took 'her' candy. However, it didn't take her anytime to recognize the fun of the holiday and she would sit by the door waiting for it to ring so she could hand out the candy.
After a quick phone call to daddy (to tell him that she saved him the Dots), we took a quick bath and went to bed. I am sure she can't wait for next year - I know I can't!

Fall Family Fun
Finally, the weather has cooled enough where we can enjoy time outdoors after work and during the day. We have visited the playground, played in the backyard, had a dinner picnic at the park with the family, went pumpkin hunting, painted pumpkins, and went to the Zoo. Plenty of pics can't be found here.
Morgan and I are heading to visit family this week and Morgan is counting down the days to being able to ride in the airplane, see her grandparents and Aunt, and experience some winter weather!. Lately we have been reminded of the importance of seeing and spending time with family - no matter how far apart they are.
BTW - Happy Birthday Christy! (we'll get another B day video posted soon - 'Happy Birthday' is another favorite song of Morgan)
Morgan is doing great at school. She has become so independent in the last few weeks. It seems like she is pushing Brian out the door when he drops her off in the morning. Occasionally, she doesn't even want to leave when I pick her up! We know she spends a lot of time in the 'messy room' or painting because she comes home with pictures all the time (we are running out of space) and paint all over her clothes. We go through a TON of spray and wash. Morgan also comes home singing new songs. She loves 'Ring around the Rosy', the 'Wheel on the Bus', and 'Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed' (as taught by Aunt Mimi).

It's a...
BOY! Yes, you read that correctly - boy. I really didn't have a 'feeling' either way, so no matter what they would have told us would have been a surprise. It definitely will take some getting used to having a little boy as opposed to a little girl! He spent the entire ultrasound with his legs crossed so it took a lot of patience to determine it was a 'he' and not a 'she'.
More importantly, the baby is growing right on track and everything looks great (brain, heart, kidney, liver, etc). We can't wait to meet him in when he arrives!

Good bye Norman...we'll miss you
Our beloved family cat of 17 years passed away earlier today. For pics, click here.
Below is the obituary my dad put together:
"Stormin" Norman Olson passed away today, he was 16 1/2 years. Norman was the loving son of Brian and Ronda Olson, and was born in Cheyenne, WY in 1991.
Norman was known among family and friends as a pretty "cool cat." His favorite pass times included chasing birds, getting attacked by birds, biting neighborhood children and being a mentor to his kitty niece/nephews Huddle, Ungar, Stetson Parker and E.
In his later years, Norman spent much of time time eating, sleeping, shedding and going potty without ever touching the kitty litter.
Norman is survived by his parents Brian and Ronda, sisters Jennifer and Brea, brother-in-law Brian, his niece Morgan and kitty niece/nephews Huddle, Parker, Stetson, Ungar and E.
He will be missed.
Burial arrangements are pending.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that anyone who came across Norman in their lives, to raise a toast in his honor.
Norman - you were a good family cat and a great companion.

Our Trip to Chicago
Last weekend we went to Chicago for a family vacation and to support Brian as he ran his first marathon. We had a GREAT time. It was a great getaway for Papa, Ma-Ma, Brea, Peggy, and of course US! Chicago is an awesome city - I definitely think it is my favorite large US city - so much better than NY or LA. We stayed in an high rise condo on the 25th floor less than two blocks from the heart of the Magnificent Mile. Morgan would wake up every morning and would look out the large picture windows that surrounded the condo and would say - "Morning Morgan's Cago, see you later Cago." Cago was her version of Chicago. She even named our condo Mimi's condo. Brea loved that she could call it her 'own' - even if it was just for a long weekend.
On Friday, Brian, Brea, Peggy, and I went to the Chicago Marathon Race Expo. Papa and Ma-Ma took Morgan to Navy Pier to ride the Ferris Wheel. At the expo, there were so many booths to visit and plenty of healthy snacks to try (which is great for someone who is pregnant and hungry). Brian was able to hook up with his charities (ABTA and the American Liver Foundation) and was provided some great running gear for his running and fundraising efforts. A BIG thank you to everyone who gave to these important charities--both Brian's tumor removal and liver disease treatment depend on considerable amounts of research in which both these charities help support.
After we arrived, we decided to walk down the Mag Mile and to do a little bit of shopping. Our first stop after lunch was the American Girl Store. I never was really into this series when I was younger, but my sister loved them and wanted to pass on her love of AG to Morgan. There are dolls, dolls, and even more dolls everywhere. You can take your doll to lunch, to a play, to have her hair done, or to the doll 'hospital' all under one roof. Of course, Morgan knew exactly how to get Ma-Ma to buy her the perfect baby doll with a matching Morgan and baby outfit (she really can turn on the extra cuteness factor on when needed!). That evening we found a great little Mexican Restaurant while we waited for Peggy to arrive.

On Friday evening, we headed out for some deep dish Chicago Pizza and spaghetti so Brian could carbo load. After dinner, the Olson clan headed up the Hancock Tower to view the Chicago Skyline at night. Brian skipped out so he could rest his feet and Peppy spent some time with Morgan. I really hate heights - especially elevators that make you feel every inch of the climb up. Thankfully, the elevators in the Hancock Tower are among the fastest in the world and it was a quick 'painless' ride to the top.
The next day we headed down to Navy Pier and took an architectural tour of the Chicago Skyline. It definitely was the first time since we arrived that we really 'felt' the heat. It hasn't been that warm in Chicago since early August and never that warm in October. I guess the heat was great for tourism but horrible if you are planning to run 26.2 miles. That evening Brian and I headed to the movies after grilling steaks at the condo for a mini date night. The great thing about the condo was that everything was just a few blocks away and allowed Brian to experience Chciago without having to do a lot of walking. It definitely is a GREAT location if you are visiting or even living in Chicago. We also had three grocery stores within 2 blocks which made getting our food and living the urban life extremely easy.
On Sunday was the big race. We knew it was going to be a warm day. Nothing like a hot humid Atlanta Summer day but definitely warmer than usual. The recorded high for that day was 89--very warm for October. The temps on the race course as well as the temps the runners felt were probably well over 100 degrees though. Our first pit stop along the race course was between three and four miles. The enthusiasm on the course was awesome. We previously had watched Brian run the ING half marathon earlier this year in March but this experience was so much greater. Thousands and thousands of people lined the streets yelling to support to runners while making all sorts of cheering noises and ringing cow bells. DJ's and bands were placed throughout the course to help fuel the energy. Just waiting for Brian brought tears to my eyes - I was so proud he was doing something that very few people attempt or even finish. Right before Brian found us along the course (he knew where to look) the baby started jumping around in my tummy. I even thought - wow, Brian must be getting close and sure enough he appeared. Morgan loved seeing her daddy and her favorite cheer was Go DADDY Go!! As soon as he left to continue the race she was very upset and started crying.
After Brian was off we headed to our next stop - between miles 10 and 11. The street was more narrow at that point which made the enthusiasm from the crowd feel so much greater. We knew at that point the race organizers were having trouble providing enough Gatorade and water to the runners so we made sure we had bottled water and some fruit for Brian. Brian finally met up with us again and made a 'pit stop' to change the insoles in his shoes, drink, and then head back to the race. This was the last time we saw him until after he crossed the finish line. Little did we know that our trek to mile 20 would be for nothing as Brian was diverted at mile 17 to head to the finish. Race organizers cancelled the race and started diverting runners, making them walk, or busing them to the finish. Medical personnel were completely overwhelmed due to runners dropping like flies because of the heat and definitely because of the lack of water and Gatorade. Brian had trained most of the summer in Atlanta and consequently was well equipped to handle the heat. It definitely it was a disappointing end to the race as the Chicago Marathon (one of the top and most respected marathons in the world) quit before Brian did. I know he would have finished it if given the chance - even if he had to walk the last few miles because of his injuries. I wish he had the chance to finish. But, I am definitely grateful that Brian was in great shape after the race and was not one of the runners who ended up at the hospital.
Morgan's favorite part of Chicago was chasing the baby pigeons, looking down from the condo to her 'Cago', playing outside, and riding the trains and school buses. Ahhh, to have the simplistic view of life through the eyes of a toddler! Undoubtedly, Morgan enjoyed the special time with her Grandparents and Aunt Mimi (and I am sure the trips to McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts for breakfast didn't hurt!). Overall, we had a great time and it was wonderful to get away. The race didn't turn out as we expected but it certainly didn't ruin the weekend or erase the fun we had.

(I know this was a LONG post, but even if no one reads it in its entirety, I have a great little journal of our trip).

We're Back!
We're back from the Windy City (strike that - HOT city of Chicago!) - we had an AMAZING time. I guess you could say Sunday's race was disappointing, but not because of Brian's performance. He trained hard and performed very well. Morgan and I are SO proud (Go Daddy Go!).
We'll post more pictures later this week - we have a ton to share!
Race News: http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/594351,CST-NWS-marathon09.article. It is pretty pathetic that organizers cannot recognize they made a mistake and were NOT fully prepared. It is hard to believe that 35,000 participants that day are making this stuff up. I witnessed it first hand. Runners spend hundreds of hours preparing running hundreds and hundreds of miles. Not to mention the amount of revenue they and their family bring to the city to attend the marathon. Come on, GET IT TOGETHER CHICAGO. Thankfully, Brian trained in heat and was well prepared - obviously others runners did not take the heat seriously and are somewhat to blame. Water and Gatorade definitely would have helped make it easier for those who were ready to complete the race. I hope race organizers are starting to feel the heat.

Our Girl's Getaway Weekend
Morgan and I went to Colorado and Wyoming this past weekend to visit friends and family. We had a great time! My grandmother, who we haven't seen in a year, was also able to join us. Morgan and I spent time with the Nunnally family as well as with Alicia, Lily, and Kara. While I was enjoying a girls weekend/mother's night out, Morgan had a wonderful time with her grandparents and Aunt Mimi. They walked to the park numerous times and even had dinner at Morgan's favorite restaurant - Chuck E Cheeses. The weather was warm, but beautiful (no Wyoming wind or snow!). We can't wait to head back in a few months - this time with daddy.

Well baby visit
Morgan had her 2 year old pediatrician visit this week. Our next regular visit isn't until she is 3! Our physician was very impressed with Morgan's language skills - we knew she was a talker! Morgan is considered a very healthy 2 year old. Morgan is still considered very petite and in the low percentiles for weight and height, but the docs aren't concerned a bit. She is definitely growing, still getting teeth, and is a happy and healthy little girl.
Thankfully, we are finished with vaccines until she turns 5 (except of course for the yearly influenza vaccine)! She did have one shot yesterday - cried for about 10 seconds and that was it. Of course, I did promise her a popsicle when we got home :)

War Eagle!
Wow, September is off to a busy start. Morgan was able to wear her Auburn Cheerleader Outfit for the first time this football season - we think she looked adorable :) The first two games have been night games so Morgan hasn't been able to go to Granddaddy and Nene's house yet for a game this season, but we are looking forward to the game next week.
Morgan's second birthday party was last weekend (for more pics click here). We spent the morning at Chuck E Cheeses and then had an ice cream party at our house. Morgan had a wonderful time playing with Jackson, Ben, DJ, Victoria and Lily and it was nice to now have William and Maggie with us.
During that weekend Ma-Ma and Papa were in town and we had a great time. Morgan loved the special walks, trips to McDonald's, and the extra attention she received. Brian and I certainly appreciated the date time! When Morgan woke up in the morning she would dance around the house or her crib when she realized they were still here. We also went to the children's museum last Sunday. I really wasn't impressed (save your money) but Morgan had a great time and that was what was important. On Monday, we had professional family photographs taken. It was meant to capture us as a family before we change from a family of 3 to a family of 4 and to capture Morgan at 2 years old.
Morgan is doing great at her new school. She has adjusted very well and really is thriving. Her language skills are exploding. I can't believe some of the words that come out of her mouth or how she strings a set of words together to form a sentence. Morgan still loves to color and to go on family walks. Thankfully the weather is cooling down a bit (if you call the lower 90s cool) so the evenings are more tolerable. Morgan received a tricycle for her birthday so she is now able to ride that while we walk the puppy. She loves her baby dolls and is quite the little mother. She loves to take them for walks, read to them, or put them to bed. She will be quite the big sister when the time comes.
Morgan is also making great progress with potty training. She uses the potty several times a day at school and at home. The number of diapers we are using is steadily decreasing while she has become more accustomed to pull ups and big girls pants. Brian and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to diapers. We know that it will be short lived, but it will be nice to get a diaper break.
We have more adventures planned for this month to keep us busy - stay tuned for pictures!

Baby Update - 12 Weeks
I have FINALLY made it near the end of the first trimester. It definitely has been more difficult this time but it is nice to know I am about a third of the way through this pregnancy! I had a doctor appointment today and I was able to hear the baby's heartbeat - it was in the low 150s - right where Morgan's heart rate was (are we having another girl?). We won't find out the gender for another eight weeks - it seems like a long time away but we are content waiting as if we found out sooner it probably would indicate a problem (you usually don't get too many ultrasounds unless the doctor's think something is wrong). I guess the next thing I need to do is to tell my boss and coworkers. I can finally share my secret!
On a different note - today's is Granddaddy's (GDaddy) Birthday. Morgan has a special message:
On a different note - today's is Granddaddy's (GDaddy) Birthday. Morgan has a special message:
Summer Thunderstorms
Last Thursday we finally had rain and thunderstorms (it feels like it has been months since it has rained). Of course, it came on a day the weatherman says will be dry with no rain, but we'll take what we can get. Even though we were pleased with the rain, Morgan was not pleased with the thunder. Somewhere along the way she picked up this fear and really is unsure of the noise thunder makes. Brian and I try making it fun for her (cheering when we hear it or practicing counting when we see the lightning until we hear the thunder) but it really doesn't work. You can see the very unsure expression in her face below. However, a little loving and tickling by her Daddy solved the problem and her beautiful smiling face returned!
Yesterday we went to visit the newly expanded Norris family (BTW, the twins came home yesterday!). Morgan absolutely loved the babies and is very interested in holding them, kissing them, and loving them. This is something I am very happy about and hoping she still enjoys when our baby comes. However, we realize we will really have to watch her as she is very curious and very hands on. The twins are doing great though - they are just tiny!
I really enjoy watching the little mother in Morgan come out with her dolls and other kids. Her teachers at school take her next door to the younger toddler class and they say she has a favorite little girl she loves to play with and help take care of. The little mothering instinct is just awesome to watch. Before we left, I caught Morgan playing with Jackson's twin baby dolls in Jackson's room. Her conversations with the dolls are so cute. Halfway into the video Jackson comes in and they have a very interesting interaction themselves - they love each other dearly but there is almost some sibling-like rivalry there!
Morgan, Jackson, and the dolls. Click here if it doesn't appear below.
Morgan is doing great in her new school. Brian said he dropped Morgan off this morning and there were no tears (yeah!). Hopefully, the major adjustment period is over. We are looking forward to MaMa and Papa's visit this week (Morgan will receive all sorts of attention and hopefully Brian and I can FINALLY watch the new Bourne movie). Morgan also turns 2 on Saturday - where has the time gone?

Struggling with infertility is difficult, and this video does a great job of conveying what many people I know (including myself) have faced and even conquered. After watching this, I understand even more the two miracle blessings I have in my life --- Morgan and our new 'lil peanut.

Kellie Coffey reveals how fertility struggle inspired new song
By Angela, CBB Sports Contributor
http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2007/08/kellie-coffey.html#more (August 23, 2007)
Academy of Country Music award winner Kellie Coffey, 36, always knew she wanted to do two things with her life...be a mother and a singer. Little did she know that her journey to become a mother would produce "I Would Die For That," a song about her struggles with infertility. The song, which is featured on her new album Walk On, is now one of the top videos on YouTube.
With all the success of the video, Kellie felt it was time to share her story in her own words.
Click below for Kellie's story and for a new picture of her little miracle, now 20 months.
On her official site, Kellie recalls her struggles to be a mother:
I knew it was happening to me…but I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t want to believe it. I went to my writing session with my producer, Wayne Kirkpatrick, anyway. When I got there, it got worse. I was really cramping and bleeding now. I looked at him with tears in my eyes and said, “I think something bad is happening.” He was looking at his computer trying to bring up some sounds for a song we were working on…"Huh?” he said and looked up as he asked, “What’s wrong?”
I heard myself say the words, “I think I'm having a miscarriage.” He stood up and hugged me. He was very comforting but I said, “I have to call my husband, Geoff [Koch], I have to go home.”
I wondered if I had worked out too hard. Maybe I ate something bad. Why was this happening to me? Was I too stressed out? Did I wait too long to have a baby? I was getting hysterical. Maybe it will stop and the baby will be alright.
Geoff answered the phone, “Hello?”
“It’s getting worse,” I blurted out, sobbing.
“Where are you?” he asked.
“I'm driving.”
“I want you to calm down. Do you need to pull over?"
“No. I just want to get home and lay down.”
“You are closer to the doctor’s office. Can you drive yourself there? I will meet you. You have to calm down first, though. It’s going to be alright.”
Geoff has this way of making me feel like it’s gonna be okay. He is a rock.
Kellie and her husband, Geoff, had decided to wait to have a family while Kellie's career took off.
My career was all encompassing. It was like stepping onto a moving train. I was working so hard. I was so focused. There were two things that I wanted in life more than anything. One was to be a singer and the other was to be a mom. I kept telling myself (and my husband), we’ll get pregnant after I can get established in the business, after this next single, once my second album hits retail…after I get a hold of this thing.
Like most women I wanted to have it all: a great marriage, fulfilling career and be a hands-on Mom. The reality is there is a price for everything. I knew there was discrimination involving female artists getting pregnant in the recording industry. It was looked upon as a lack of commitment. You’ll lose your edge. You’ll get fat and have to take a break from touring and promoting your records.
My record label executives never directly said that I would be putting my career at risk by getting pregnant. However, the rampant negative comments about other female singers that were having babies made their position clear: You’ll seriously damage your career.
So I put it off. I didn’t start my family when I wanted to…I kept working. I was touring with some of the biggest names in country music and hearing my songs on the radio but something was missing...children. I looked up and I was 32.
At that point, the songstress knew that she had a decision to make - her career or a family.
So, I had a choice to make and for me there really was no choice. As a newer, non-established artist I knew what I was risking but I knew what I wanted. Because I was so excited, I let it slip out at a business dinner with my manager that my husband and I had been trying to get pregnant. Within a month, my manager was gone and so was my record label. I was surprised at the speed with which I found myself on the outside.
While I tried to pick up the pieces of my career, I turned most of my attention to preparing myself for motherhood, at least the getting pregnant part. I read everything there was to read. Mostly, I worried that somehow it wasn’t going to happen for me, that I had waited too long and I wouldn’t be able to conceive. It wasn’t rational but it was a real fear.
After a year of trying, it all poured out in a songwriting session. I laid my soul bare with my co-writers. Within a couple of hours we had written, “I Would Die For That.” I wasn’t sure I could ever sing it in public because it made me cry every time I just read the lyrics.
The amazing thing was that I found out I was pregnant within a few days after writing the song. My husband and I started dreaming about a child. Was it a girl or a boy? What would we name him or her? I was walking on a cloud. I poured myself back into my songwriting with a vengeance. I could have it all and it was full speed ahead. Then came the worst day of my life.
Sobbing while I drove myself to my doctor’s office, I kept saying out loud, “No. This can’t be happening to me. I already love this baby.” Within a few days, we left for Oklahoma to spend Thanksgiving with my family, where I had planned to tell them all I was pregnant. At least I was surrounded by my family that weekend.
Kellie and her husband decided to try again and she was soon expecting.
My doctor assured me that nothing I did caused my miscarriage. Still, I decided not to try to be superwoman during this pregnancy. I slowed down. Having this baby was the most important thing in my life. “I Would Die For That.” Not only did I not want to do anything to put the pregnancy at risk, I wanted to enjoy it.
A few months into my pregnancy, I started writing and recording again and it felt different. The songs came from a deeper place. It was as if I was being reborn as an artist and as a person as my baby grew inside me. Most of the final vocals and many of the songs on my album Walk On were written and recorded while I was pregnant.
The couple welcomed son Jackson Geoffrey Koch on November 15, 2005. He is now 20 months.
In November 2005, I gave birth to my son. The lyrics of the song, “I Would Die For That” still echo and feel real each time I sing the song. Now when I sing it, it's filled less with a haunting personal desperation and more with a complete understanding and empathy for the women who are still on that journey and have endured far more pain than I have.
While I am still an artist and still pursuing my career, I now know that there is nothing more precious to me than my son and I was right -- I would die for that.

Congratulations Brandon, Christy and Jackson!
Summer Fun!
We've been keeping busy this summer. We went to a Braves game on Saturday night with Brandon and Jackson (we left Morgan with Nene - she isn't quite ready to sit through a baseball game yet!). It was a great evening (minus the rain delay and the Braves losing big time). After the rain, the weather was awesome--a nice break from the heat!

Wow - Thank You!
It really feels great to be blessed with such caring and supportive family and friends! You all helped Brian exceed his fund raising goal and gave him even more incentive to train for the Chicago Marathon. Because of your support, Brian increased his goal to raise money for liver research. We feel so powerless with the PSC diagnosis - but raising money for research gives all of us the power to prevent this disease from claiming and disabling any more lives. Even if you cannot donate, we definitely appreciate the support you have shown us though thoughts and prayers.
My sister is designing a racing shirt for Brian. She is working on a special design that will include all of his 'sponsors'! Pictures will be posted after the race.
Thanks to you all.....

School Time!
Morgan started her new school today. She wasn't bothered a bit when Brian and I left her alone in her new classroom (she didn't know what to think when we dropped her off for orientation a few days ago). I didn't think I would feel sad when I left her, but I have to admit I did get teary eyed when I left this morning. I really like the idea that the school has observation rooms just off of the classrooms. I was able to stay this morning and watch Morgan play and eat breakfast without her even know it! I did learn that she does listen to her teachers much better than she listens to her mom and dad :)
More pictures of Morgan's school orientation, gymnastics class, first day of school, and Campy Peppy/Kim are here.
Morgan also had her first gymnastics class on Saturday morning. Although Morgan had a great time, Brian and I were a bit disappointed. We felt like they were herding cattle. There were two large toddler classess at the same time - add in some parents and it felt like chaos! Our plan is to keep her in gymnastics as she seemed to love it (and I love that it is a mommy and me class) but to find a different class or place so it is more enjoyable for all.
After gymnastics, we headed to Auburn for the rest pf the weekend. The weather was HOT so we played in the backyard in the babypool and sprinklers - Morgan and Jackson loved it. It was a great way to beat the heat and burn some energy at the same time. Peppy bought the kids a backpack with their own sleeping bag, flashlight, and water bottle. Peppy and Kim even pitched a tent inside so the weekend was filled with lots of fun at Camp Peppy and Kim.

The King Family
This past weekend the King Family (except Grayson) came to visit us. Peyton had a doctor appointment in Atlanta on Monday, so they stayed the entire weekend. The weekend was filled with watching movies, shopping, pedicures, and having lots of fun. Peyton smiles more than any other baby I know - she smiles all the time!
Brian, Katie, and Collin went for a run Sunday morning (Brian ran 13 miles - his marathon training is coming along great and I am so proud of him!). Morgan and I babysat Peyton while everyone was on the run (I was looking forward to taking naps with the kids!). Morgan absolutely loved having Peyton visiting. She always knew where the baby was and loved kissing the baby and pushing the baby in the swing. While we were babysitting, Morgan was very helpful in fetching diapers or blankets for me. Although I am still quite nervous about having two children (see post above!), it was a blessing for me to see how much Morgan loves being around babies. Although I am sure the novelty will wear off for her when we bring our baby home, I have hopes that she will be just as excited having a brother or sister. Morgan did spend most of her weekend getting in and out (and in and out) of the bouncy chair. Good thing we have two because when the baby comes I am sure we will have to designate one for Morgan so she doesn't get jealous.
Morgan is now able to count to ten, give or take a little help (usually numbers six and seven) from Mommy or Daddy. She loves having 'two' of things now - it is so much more fun than just having one. Also, Morgan enjoys playing with trains. We don't have one at the house yet so she uses her imagination and plays 'train' with her crayons and markers on her craft table while repeating "Chooo Chooo." Too cute!
Her new favorite 'toy' is Blues Clues Diapers. A frustrating experience when you are potty training. She discovered these diapers at her babysitter's house. When I picked Morgan up on Friday of last week her first words to me were "Mommy, Blues Clues diapers. Buy some!" I guess Brian told her we would buy her some when we dropped her off that morning and she waited all day to remind me. Anyway, she loves moving the diapers from point A to point B - especially the pink ones. I guess characters on diapers DO matter! I am trying to convince her that Blues Clues panties are much cooler than Blues Clues diapers, but so far she could care less.

Run for Research - Chicago, IL
As many of you know, Brian has been training hard to run the Chicago Marathon in October (his first marathon). As part of his run, Brian is raising money for the American Liver Foundation. Because of his PSC diagnosis, the cause is now very important to the both of us. There is no known cure for PSC, and treatment options lack. Further research is needed to prevent this and other liver diseases from claiming lives every year.

Brian's training goal is $500.00 (and for your donation, Brian will run 26.2 miles just for you!).
Go Brian and Brea - you will do great in Chicago!

No Words
We are now facing a difficult time in our lives. I am not really sure how to articulate things as I haven't processed what this really means, but Brian has done a great job of explaining things - http://upofdn.blogspot.com/2007/07/medical-mystery-tour-2007.html.

Aunt Mimi!
Aunt Mimi came to visit and we had a great time. On Saturday, we took Morgan to a Hibachi Grill for the first time. Although she wasn't sure of the flames, she really enjoyed the food. That afternoon we went to the pool and the weather was beautiful (not too hot, no rain, and low humidity). Saturday night Brian and I were able to go on a date (Thanks Mimi!). Morgan ended up getting a fever on Sunday so we stayed low, but she still had a ton of energy (I have no idea where she finds it). Peppy even came to visit that evening to say hi.
Aunt Mimi left this morning - we sure will miss her and we had a great time!
Even though Morgan is just one - she is all two. She is testing us all the time and reminds us constantly that 'she' is in charge (that is what she thinks!). She loves puzzles - Brian and I bought three new ones this week as we get tired of playing with the same puzzles over and over again. Books are also a favorite activity - she loves Brown Bear, Curious George and the Bunny, and Ten Tiny Fairies. Morgan starts 'mommy and me' gymnastics classes next month and will also be transiting from her babysitter to an early education center. It will be a busy month for us, but her new school is definitely for the best.
Happy Summer!

Potty Training Progress
Morgan has been making great progress with potty training. We knew it would be a good day yesterday when she asked both Brian and I each to go potty yesterday morning before we went to work. I received a call from the babysitter later that morning that Morgan went both #1 and #2 in the potty and told the babysitter she needed to go. She did the same thing later in the afternoon. She sure did get a lot of stickers yesterday and plenty of praise! We are so proud of her!
Below are pictures of her and Brian standing next to her sticker chart. As you can see, she has received quite a few stickers in the last week and a half!
